GRT Yamaha teammates Lucas Mahias and Federico Caricasulo went 1-2 in the World Supersport Championship (WorldSSP) Superpole qualifying at Phillip Island.

Mahias got the job done by 0.4s over teammate Caricasulo, after posting a 1m33.160s, as four-time world champion Kenan Sofuoglu (Pucetti Kawasaki) went P3 despite a major crash in FP3.

Australian mainstay Anthony West (EAB West Racing Kawasaki) was a big part of the action before eventually stopping the clock in fifth position, slotting into row two with a 1m33.843s behind ex-Moto3 world champion Sandro Cortese (Kallio Racing Yamaha).

West’s less-experience countrymen Tom Toparis (Cube Racing Kawasaki) and Lachlan Epis (Team GoEleven Kawasaki) will start from positions 17 and 22 respectively, logging their lap-times in Superpole 1.
