Queenslander Anthony West has rebounded from the disappointment of a non-finish in Phillip Island’s opening round of World Supersport to record victory in Thailand’s 2018 Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) opener.

West, 36, went 2-1 to place himself at the top of the point-standings following round one at Chang International Circuit in Buriram, riding a Webike Ikazuchi Racing Yamaha on Dunlop tyres.

The package West competes aboard in the Asian championship is vastly different to his Pirelli-equipped EAB West Racing Kawasaki ZX-6R that he rides in WorldSSP, however he swiftly adapted in an impressive start to his ARRC assault.

However West will be absent from The Bend Motorsport Park’s second round of the ARRC in the series’ first visit to Australia on 19-22 April, clashing with the Dutch round of WorldSSP at Assen in the Netherlands.
