EAB West Racing Kawasaki’s Anthony West has admitted he and the team will be in search of extracting more horsepower out of his privateer ZX-6R after battling to ninth in World Supersport at Aragon on Sunday.

West qualified a lowly 15th before charging up the order to ninth on race-day, however a lack of power is what denied his chances of a stronger result according to the experienced Queenslander.

“Honestly, it’s the best I could get out of this motor,” West stated. “I’m looking forward to the next race in Assen as it’s not such a big horsepower track, so I hope for a little better result and will fight hard as always.

“After next weekend I’ll make a decision on what to do next, because racing in the world championship just to fill the grid and not be on competitive bike is not why I’m here. Will work hard to find more budget and get some new motors built, ready to try and finish the season stronger than how it has started.”

West currently sits P10 in the world championship standings following three rounds, with his best result coming in Thailand when he scored sixth position. Phillip Island’s opener resulted in a gut-wrenching mechanical failure after starting from the front row of the grid.

Competing in the World Supersport Championship round at Assen in the Netherlands this weekend will deny West the opportunity to contest the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) at The Bend in South Australia, which he currently leads after winning last month’s season-opener at Buriram.
