Points-leader Toparis closes gap during first qualifying session.
It was once again Cru Halliday (Yamaha Racing Team) who led the way in Australian Supersport Championship at The Bend Motorsport Park at the conclusion of qualifying one.
Halliday posted a 1m56.157s in the afternoon session in just two laps, heading championship leader Tom Toparis (Cube Racing Kawasaki) by 0.653s.
It’s the closest anybody has been to Halliday across the weekend, while Broc Pearson (Yamaha) provisionally sits third as the lone rider in the 57s. South Australian John Hunt (Suzuki) edged New Zealand’s Damon Rees (Honda) for fourth in Q1.
Sitting sixth is BCperformance Junior Team’s Giuseppe Scarcella (Kawasaki), with the top 10 rounded out by Max Croker (Suzuki), Zac Johnson (Yamaha), Luke Mitchell (Yamaha) and Rhys Belling (Yamaha).
Supersport will feature the second qualifying session from 9:00am local time to determine the grid, followed later by the opening eight-lap race of the round at 11:55am.
