The Bend ARRC SuperSports 600cc chaos continues as Ito claims victory

Ahrens and Zaidi take out Production 250cc and Underbone 150cc category victories.

After Saturday’s SuperSports 600cc opening race of the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) at The Bend in South Australia was abandoned due to multiple incidents, Sunday’s race was forced to be red-flagged before Yuki Ito (Yamaha Racing Team Asean) raced to victory on the restart.

Crashing out of yesterday’s opener, Ito controlled race two, ultimately crossing the line with a 1.602s advantage over Ratthapong Wilairot (Yamaha Thailand Racing Team), who beat home Md Ramdan Rosli (Hong Leong Yamaha Malaysia) by a comfortable margin.

Keisuke Kurihara (A.P. Honda Racing Thailand) finished just under two seconds back in fourth, while the top five was completed by Thai rider Keminth Kubo (Yamaha Racing Team Asean).

In the Asia Production 250cc class, Rheza Danica Ahrens (Astra Honda Racing Team) reigned supreme with the race two victory awarding him the overall, defeating Mario Suryo Aji (Astra Honda Racing Team) and Awhin Sanjaya (Astra Honda Racing Team). Overall for the round it was Aji and Andy Muhammad Fadly (Manual Tech KYT Kawasaki Racing) in second and third respectively behind Ahrens.

The Underbone 150cc division was taken out by Md Izzat Zaidi (RCB Yamaha YY Pang Racing), however it was Md Haziq Md Fairues (UMA Racing Yamaha Maju Motor Asia Team) who stormed to a magnificent 6.255s victory in the final outing, finishing ahead of McKinley Kyle Paz (UMA Racing Yamaha Maju Motor Asia Team) and Md Akid Aziz (UMA Racing Yamaha Maju Motor Asia Team).

On the podium it was Zaidi, Paz and Aziz in that running order. Australian Travis Hall (SCK Rapido Hi Rev Honda Racing Team) wound up 11th overall after finishing 10th in race two. The next stop on the ARRC calendar is scheduled for 1-3 June at Suzuka in Japan.
