Yamaha Racing Team’s Daniel Falzon was overwhelmed with local support at the weekend’s third round of the Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK), which saw the South Australian earn his first podium of the season in front of hometown fans at the all-new The Bend Motorsport Park.

The podium also marks his first with the factory Yamaha outfit, scoring 4-5-2 race results to be credited third overall while also promoting him into the top three of the premier class championship standings.

“It’s been overwhelming seeing everyone out here with the Daniel Falzon hats on,” Falzon explained. “I’m really pumped to be third in the championship after a good weekend here and it’s been an amazing weekend to race an event like this in my home state.

“I can’t thank my team and sponsors enough and of course everyone who supports me. This third place is for everyone who is behind me and my team.”

Falzon will now shift his attention towards round four of the series set to be hosted at Hidden Valley Raceway in the Northern Territory on 28 June – 1 July, where he’ll endeavour to turn his fortunes around from a distasteful outing at the venue in 2017.
