Australian Jack Miller has revealed he pushed through a shoulder injury at the weekend’s third round of the MotoGP World Championship in Austin, USA, where he managed to not only overcome injury struggles, but also bike -set-up difficulties to record a ninth place finish.

The Pramac Racing rider remained tight-lipped about the injury prior and throughout the weekend, only releasing details in his post-race overview with long-time sponsor Red Bull, where he confirmed he sustained a slight tear to the rotator cuff of his right shoulder along with a crack in his collarbone.

The injuries were a result of a mountain bike crash in the lead-up to the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) round, although the Queensland-native firmly believes appropriate rest will be adequate for a full recovery.

“I was struggling with a shoulder injury that I carried into the weekend as well – not ideal,” Miller commented. “We kept pretty quiet about the shoulder all weekend, but now we’re done, I can admit that it wasn’t great. I was out training in California after Argentina, and I fell off doing some mountain biking.

“The injuries are nothing that some rest time and recovery can’t handle, but I ended up with some muscle damage, some bruising and a little tear on my rotator cuff on my right shoulder. And a crack in my collarbone as well.”

With another top 10 in his grasp, Miller currently sits eighth in the championship standings as the world tour heads to Jerez in Spain on 6 May.
