Popular Australian MotoGP contender Jack Miller has expressed his satisfaction in securing sixth place at the weekend’s Spanish grand prix in Jerez, marking the fourth stop of the series.

Miller capitalised on the drama that unfolded between front-runners Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team), Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati Team) and Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda), granting him an opportunity to contend in the top five after starting from P12.

The Pramac Racing Ducati ace then found himself in the sights of multi-time world champion Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha), who drew upon his experience to slice his way by the Queensland-native, however Miller is still extracting confidence from his performance in the 25-lap affair.

“I’m happy with this result,” said Miller. “It was a good race. It is clear that there have been some crashes but I have long been close to the group of the podium. I fought with Valentino who has a ‘little more’ experience than me, then I couldn’t keep fifth position. Okay, that’s good, it’s a great weekend for the team and this gives me great confidence.”

Miller sits eighth in the championship standings as the MotoGP World Championship heads to Le Mans in France on 20 May.
