Experienced Endurance World Championship (EWC) campaigners Damian and Alex Cudlin will contest the 2018 Suzuka 8 Hours for the BMW Motorrad 39 Team alongside Japanese endurance specialist Daisaku Sakai.

The pair made history in 2016 when they became the first brothers to finish on the same podium at the Le Mans 24 Hours, now set to team up in Japan this July in a special moment for the Taree-based duo.

“I’m really excited to be racing in the eight-hour again, especially on a BMW.” Damian said. “I’ve had some great times with BMW in the past and it remains one of my favorite bikes to ride. Daisaku San runs a great program in Japan and I’m really honored he reached out to me. I’ve been on the bench for almost a year, so the eight-hour will be a big challenge, but I’m determined to get myself into good shape and give it 110 percent in Japan.”

Alex is equally eager to test the machine and to partner his older brother in this iconic event: “I’m looking forward to racing Suzuka, probably more so than other years as this year I’ll get to ride alongside Damian. We have always been in different teams so to finally join forces will be fun. I haven’t ridden a BMW before in race trim, but I know that the BMW Motorrad 39 Team will build a competitive machine and I think with Damian, Daisaku San and myself, we will be able to achieve a strong result.”

The team will conduct a two-day test next month in order to make some fine-tuning adjustments before the race week of 25-29 July.
