Pramac Racing ace accepts second-consecutive non-finish.
A mechanical failure in the closing stages of Catalunya’s seventh round of the MotoGP World Championship at the weekend has forced Jack Miller to accept his second-consecutive DNF in 2018.
The Australian opted for a tyre strategy that would allow him to be competitive in the second half of the outing, however with seven laps to go, an undisclosed issue with his Pramac Racing Ducati GP17 resulted in relinquishing a top 10 finish.
“I managed to save the tyre in order to be competitive in the second half of the race,” Miller explained. “I was with Viñales and Zarco, and felt confident, then I had a technical problem. It is a shame – I could’ve made a good result – I can’t wait to be in Assen.”
Miller was one of 12 riders to record a non-finish in Spain, as multiple mechanical failures and crashes saw almost half of the field retire from the race.
With a string of strong finishes to start the season, and now two DNFs on the board, the Queensland-native is situated 10th in the championship standings.
