Former international Glenn Scott had his first shakedown test aboard his GSR Kawasaki ZX-10R machine last Saturday at Sydney Motorsport Park ahead of his anticipated return to the Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK).

Scott explained it was a positive first outing in Sydney, with the only hiccup coming in the sixth and final session when cold tyres caught him out, resulting in washing the front-end at turn 11.

“Other than the get off we had, it was a really positive day,” Scott declared to CycleOnline.com.au. “It’s the first time that the team have come together and the first time we’ve tested the bike. We have a great base setting as we just took things slow.

“We are using these remaining four round for testing for 2019. We want to build the team, and I want to build myself and get some bike fitness back, and most of all get some confidence back on the bike after having an ongoing injury for so long.”

The New South Welshman has no expectations for the fourth stop on this year’s ASBK tour in Darwin, the only real expectation for him is to finish in the points and build for the closing rounds of the season.

“By the end of the year we have ambitions to be in the top five,” he continued. “I believe if you are in the top five in the Superbike category at the moment, you are doing really well.

“The Superbike class in the ASBK series is a fantastic field this year. The competition is red hot and you can see that the calibre has lifted through riders, teams and the championship itself with the promotions. So, people are taking it really serious, which is fantastic to see. This is what makes me want to be a part of the championship.”

The Australian Superbike Championship returns to action on 28 June-1 July at Hidden Valley Raceway in the Northern Territory.
