Red Bull Honda’s Jake Gagne lodged a career-best result at his home round of the Motul FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) hosted by Laguna Seca, placing ninth during Sunday’s race two.

The American WorldSBK rookie, who was 10th in Saturday’s opening affair, expressed his satisfaction of earning the pair of top 10s in front of friends and family, which made his performance all the more special.

“A couple of top 10 results at my home track made this the best weekend of the season so far,” said Gagne. “It was really great racing in front of my fans, friends and family and today I felt really strong on my Fireblade.

“I didn’t get off to the best start, but after a few laps I was able to make some passes and make my way into the top 10, and then for the second half it was a long, lonely race. I had a couple of moments in the second half of the race but I managed the gap to the riders behind me and brought it home in ninth place.”

Gagne is still ranked 17th in the championship as the series heads to round nine on the calendar, scheduled for 6-8 July at Misano in Italy.
