Ducati Team contender focused on podium return.
Andrea Dovizioso has expressed the importance of working well in the wake of teammate Jorge Lorenzo’s success over the past two rounds of the MotoGP World Championship.
The Ducati Team rider, who’s coming off a disappointing DNF at Catalunya, is hopeful of turning his season around this weekend at Assen’s eighth stop – a venue in which he has stepped on the podium three times over the course of his MotoGP career.
“I usually need a couple of days to metabolise a bad DNF like the one at Barcelona, and that was also the case this time,” said Dovizioso. “Now that we’ve had a chance to carefully analyse the last race and try and understand what happened, I’m focused on the next GPs.
“With a competitive teammate like Jorge, it’s even more important to work well and arrive at the next race with clear ideas. In the last few races we have always been fast and competitive, and so at Assen we will have to stay calm and focus on getting back to being stronger than before.”
The Italian ace is positioned eighth in the championship standings – tied on 66 points with Lorenzo – while sitting 49 points behind series leader Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda).
