Dutch circuit the venue of the Italian's last win in 2017.
Movistar Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi says he has mixed emotions heading into Assen’s eighth round of the MotoGP World Championship, the venue of his last victory 12 months ago.
The multi-time world champion is hopeful of repeating his success of 2017 this Sunday, although he acknowledges the temperamental conditions at the Dutch circuit could play a significant role in how the weekend pans out.
“We’re heading to Assen where I won last year,” said Rossi. “This gives mixed emotions – on the one hand this means it’s been a long time since I and Yamaha last won a race, so we need to work hard.
“On the other hand I’m happy because Assen is a fantastic track. Usually we are very competitive at the TT Circuit, but we have to check what the conditions and the situation will be like, because you never know what might happen there.”
A string of podium finishes have positioned the Italian great second in the championship standings, 11 points clear of teammate Maverick Viñales.
