Three-time world champion Bayliss impresses on day one.
Penrite Honda Racing’s Troy Herfoss set the Friday practice benchmark at round four of the 2018 Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) in the Northern Territory this afternoon.
The current points leader lodged a new best lap of Hidden Valley at 1m06.033s in the second session of three today, however Herfoss’ run ended early when he crashed in the latter stages of the final practice.
That left triple world champion Troy Bayliss (DesmoSport Ducati) to go fastest in FP3 with a 1m06.198s, which placed him second overall on the charts and 0.096s ahead of the in-form Daniel Falzon (Yamaha Racing Team).
Fourth on combined times today was Bryan Staring (Kawasaki BCperformance), directly followed by Wayne Maxwell (Yamaha Racing Team), Glenn Allerton (Next Gen Motorsports BMW), Jamie Stauffer (McMartin Racing Ducati), last year’s victor Josh Waters (Team Suzuki Ecstar), Kyle Buckley (Kawasaki BCperformance) and top rookie Mark Chiodo (Team Suzuki Ecstar).
