Times tight at the top as Toparis and Croker complete front row.
Yamaha Racing Team’s Cru Halliday remains the man to beat in the 2018 Kawasaki Australian Supersport Championship after claiming pole position at Hidden Valley today.
Halliday’s record lap of 1m07.951s – the lone rider in the sevens – was enough to seal him the top spot on the grid, remaining ahead of the pack so far this weekend.
But the 30-year-old won’t have it all his own way tomorrow, with Cube Racing-backed teenager Tom Toparis (Kawasaki) claiming second, just a tenth behind the lone factory rider in the field. Each set their fastest lap during this morning’s opening qualifier.
Former World Supersport regular Lachlan Epis (Kawasaki) was next best in position four, as another ZX-6R in Giuseppe Scarcella (Kawasaki) rounds out the top five. Positions six through 10 included Damon Rees (Honda), Zac Johnson (Yamaha), Mick Heffernan (Kawasaki), Ty Lynch (Yamaha) and Scott Nicholson (Suzuki).
