Western Australian Bryan Staring has declared he isn’t completely satisfied with his podium performance at Hidden Valley Raceway’s fourth round of the Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) yesterday.

The Kawasaki BCperformance rider converted a P3 qualifying position into a third place finish in the opening race, while in race two he was able to capitalise on a late mistake from Troy Bayliss (DesmoSport Ducati) to seal second for the third overall.

Staring, who attributed a new rear Dunlop tyre to his improved feeling throughout the weekend, was discontent that he wasn’t able to mix it up in the battle between Bayliss and Troy Herfoss (Penrite Honda Racing) in both outings as he was just shy of the duo.

“I’m happy, but not 100 percent satisfied mainly because I wasn’t able to battle in the race,” Staring stated. “I had the pace, but I was a bit of a sitting duck and couldn’t do much. Overall, I scored a third and a second, so that’s a pretty good weekend.

“The rear tyre was new this weekend and our consistency over the sessions showed that’s what we needed and showed we could be strong, so we look forward to the next one now.”

Staring still holds down sixth in the championship, although he has inched closer to the top five as the series heads to Morgan Park on 17-19 August in Queensland.
