Yamaha Racing Team’s Cru Halliday has kept his winning streak going at round four of the Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) at Darwin’s Hidden Valley Raceway last weekend.

The 30-year-old Sydney based rider was simply untouchable in the Australian Supersport 600cc Championship category, leaving his rivals in his wake in every single session, proving just how strong he and the all new Yamaha YZF-R6 is.

After starting from pole position, his third consecutive pole for the 2018 season, Halliday romped to a 4.162 second victory. Not only did Halliday claim the top honours, he also posted a new lap record on lap three by stopping the clock with a 1min08.243, .91 seconds faster than the previous record which was set last year.

Halliday got a decent start, but didn’t hit the lead until the exit of turn one when Max Croker went a bit wide. Halliday exited the corner later and shot gun his bike up the inside. From there he was never headed.

Race two saw Halliday again making the race his own. However, Halliday didn’t hit the lead until lap two when he drafted by Croker down the main the straight. From there, Halliday rode off into the distance, winning by 3seconds and in the process posting the fastest lap of the race.

This marked Halliday’s seventh race win in a row, but most importantly, extends his championship lead to 25-points, with a total of six races remaining in the season.

“Three race wins, three poles and I’m loving it,” beamed Halliday after race two.

“The duration of the tyres held in flawlessly. I can’t thank the team enough. They have worked endless hours since round three, all the way up to round four. Both of my Yamaha R6’s were on song all weekend, which shows how much effort the team put in. So, hats off to the team.”

While Halliday may be happy with how he performed on the weekend and leading the championship fight, he does understand that he needs to stay on the bike.

“I don’t want to go to iritic and throw the bike down the road, and then lose that championship lead. I have to remain smart and try and wrap this championship up for Yamaha,” finished Halliday.

In the Superbike class, it was an up-and-down weekend for Wayne Maxwell and Daniel Falzon. Maxwell qualified fourth and raced to a 4-3 finish, which saw him picking up fourth place overall for the round, while Falzon, who started from sixth rode to a pair of sixth place finishes to claim seventh place for the overall round.

Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship now heads to the teams’ home round, Morgan Park Raceway, which will take place on August 17-19
