Glenn Scott has made a successful mid-season return to the Australian Superbike (ASBK) Championship in Darwin with his own privateer team, GSR Kawasaki.

After racing abroad for the last 3 seasons, Glenn made his return home at the end of the 2017 season to concentrate on an ongoing leg injury. Glenn, now fully fit has had an impressive start in the Top End, on his return to racing at the highest level in Australia.

“It was an overwhelming experience to be back on the bike after 9 long months of rehabilitation. I have been working hard over my recovery to build and establish my own Superbike team to compete in the remaining 4 rounds of the 2018 ASBK championship. My first weekend back was extremely positive for myself and GSR Kawasaki.”

Scott had a very promising few days leading up to the two races on Sunday. The qualifying sessions on Saturday saw Glenn qualify 12thon the grid and only 1.4 seconds off pole setter Troy Bayliss. This gave Glenn and the GSR Kawasaki team the confidence they needed to build into Sunday’s races.

“I was really happy with our performance throughout qualifying, our team is very young and my bike time has been very limited leading up to our first round here in Darwin. To come away 3rdKawasaki in qualifying was a great result for my GSR – Kawasaki team.”

Temperatures were soaring in the Top End for Sunday’s two 18 Lap races, but GSR Kawasaki managed to keep their cool with two successful race finishes. Race one saw the team come away with a 10thplace finish and an eventful race two was a 13thplace finish for Glenn and GSR Kawasaki.

“To start the season with a top 10 finish was a great achievement for me and my team. My crew worked very hard all weekend to give me the best bike possible, to help me through the hot 18 lap race. Race 2 saw me start even stronger then race 1 however an unexpected bump from the rear in turn 6 on lap 1 forced me wide and tested my dirt bike skills. I rejoined the race last, with 6 seconds separating me and the next rider, I knew it was going to be a tough race from then, however, I fought hard and managed to crawl back to finish 13th.”

“I’m absolutely wrapped with my first round back in the ASBK championship. To finish both races in the points is a great achievement for GSR Kawasaki. We learnt our strengths and weaknesses and I look forward to developing and building slowly over the remaining rounds to prepare ourselves for Morgan Park and beyond.”
