Team Suzuki ECSTAR Australia press release:
Team Suzuki ECSTAR Australia made the long trip to Darwin’s Hidden Valley Raceway for the fourth round of the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) where Josh Waters (#1) and Markus Chiodo (#30) once again took on the fastest motorcycle racers in Australia.
With two races on Sunday, Josh Waters took the GSX-R1000R to 7-5 for fifth overall while Markus Chiodo moved forward once again with 8-8 for eighth overall for the weekend.
Team Owner Dale Brede: “It’s tough to come away from Hidden Valley with Josh taking fifth overall. I think everyone involved in the series knows that he’s a class rider that should be battling for the win, and this weekend we as a team didn’t give him the package to get the job done. Markus has yet again shown us why he deserves to be on a superbike, with two consistent performances, and another best overall result in eighth. I can help but think that as we move past this development phase, he’ll keep moving forward each and every race. The bike and riders are more than capable, so we’ll be working hard between now Morgan Park to put the Suzuki back on top again.”
Josh Waters: “Weekends like this are frustrating, not only for me but for the whole team. I know that I should be battling for race wins, and so does the team, but we just haven’t ironed out some of the gremlins that come with developing a race bike. The class is so competitive that any stumbling block really hurts your position in each race, but I know the entire team are working hard on it. We all want the GSX-R1000R back on top.”
Markus Chiodo: “It’s hard to not be happy with the weekend. I managed to put in some consistent rides, and I’m finally catching the lead pack of superbikes. Eighth overall is my best finish of the year and I’m confident I can keep moving forward over the next few rounds as the team continues the development of the bike.”
Team Suzuki ECSTAR Australia now takes a six-week break before once again heading north to Queensland’s Morgan Park Raceway for the fifth stop of the seven round championship. For more details on the next round, head to www.asbk.com.au.
