Teenage international Billy Van Eerde put forward his best performance yet in the 2018 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup at Assen, despite crashing out of contention in race two.

The national Supersport 300 (Over 300) champion managed to qualifying in 15th position, before improving to 13th place for more championship points in the opening 16-lap encounter.

Engaged in a battle of close quarters, that performance increased the 16-year-old’s confidence ahead of race two, where he managed to climb inside the top 10 prior to unfortunately crashing with seven laps remaining.

Van Eerde’s point-scoring finish in race one boosts his tally to four points for the season, currently 21st in the standings with seven races to run. Round four of the series will take place at Sachsenring, Germany, from 14-15 July.
