Japanese manufacturer confirms plans with Sepang International Circuit outfit.
Yamaha has made its MotoGP satellite team plans public today after confirming the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the newly-formed Sepang International Circuit outfit.
The signing of a memorandum between Yamaha and the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) foresees the team leasing Yamaha YZR-M1 motorcycles for the 2019, 2020 and 2021 FIM MotoGP World Championship seasons as a satellite squad.
It comes after the news that Sepang (SIC) will be running the Angel Nieto Team grid entries from 2019, with Jorge Martinez ‘Aspar’ as sporting advisor.
It was determined earlier this year that Yamaha’s current satellite team, Monster Energy Tech3, will transition to KTM machinery from 2019 with riders Hafizh Syahrin and Miguel Oliveira, who will pilot current-spec KTM RC16 models.
