Australian Mike Jones has earned his maiden podium in the RFME Spanish Speed Championship Superstock 1000 category at Motorland Aragon over the weekend.

After qualifying in fifth, the Team Speed Racing Kawasaki rider dropped to eighth in the opening race on Saturday, however he returned with pace in Sunday’s outing, bouncing for an impressive third place finish.

“The race on Saturday was very complicated, it took me a lot to get confidence with the tyres -today I felt better and the bike was perfect,” Jones explained.

“I want to thank the team, all the people who are supporting me race after race and, especially my sponsors. Facing Valencia, I will do everything possible to get back on the podium and, why not, win the race.”

The former Australian superbike champion has now been promoted to fourth in the standings as the series heads to Valencia on 8-9 September.
