Former champion anticipating 8-10 week recovery.

Three-time Australian Superbike champion Glenn Allerton has released a statement via social media providing an update on the injuries he sustained in a motocross training accident in New South Wales last week.
Allerton underwent surgery to his right collarbone where a plate and four screws were installed, although the injury sustained to his left hand will require further evaluation from a specialist to determine if surgery is needed. The Next Gen Motorsports rider also faces eight to 10 weeks in neck brace as part of the healing process for multiple fractured vertebrae.
“I’m hoping my hand won’t need surgery,” said Allerton. “If it does, I’ll just have to go with the flow. My realistic aim is 10 weeks, but I’m hopeful for eight – it all depends how the bones in my neck heal.
“It truly has been overwhelming to read all the messages of support and well wishes I have received via social media. I can’t thank everyone enough for everything. This has given me the strength to fight on and get back out on track.”
Hopeful of a return before the conclusion of the series, Allerton currently sits seventh in the standings with season-best finish of fourth overall at The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia.
