Levy back on track

Mitch Levy press release:

Returning to the track last weekend after a long seven-week break, Mitch Levy didn’t achieve the desired results during last weekend’s fifth Australian Superbikes Championship round at Morgan Park Raceway in Queensland.

Making the nine-hour trek north to the south-east Queensland circuit from his home in the Sydney, NSW suburb of Dural, the # 68 ATR / Manshed Auctions supported Yamaha rider was unable to participate in the scheduled practice sessions in the lead up to the event, due to budget and time constraints; a fact which ultimately put him and his privateer team on the back foot from the outset.

With just a short three weeks until the upcoming sixth and penultimate Australian Superbikes Championship round at Winton Motor Raceway in country Victoria, Levy hopes that the short turnaround between outings will positively impact his outcome.

“Having not raced since late June and not being able to complete the added practice sessions prior to round five, we were somewhat behind the eight ball which made it difficult to come to grips with bike setup,” explained the 23-year-old racer.

“It’s a nice, short turnaround between rounds this time, so we’re looking very forward to getting back on track at Winton and hopefully enjoy a more competitive weekend of racing.”

Showing improvement throughout Friday’s three 30-minute practice sessions, timing 24th, 19th and 18th, Levy qualified 20th overall after recording the 18th and 20th fastest laps in Saturday’s qualifying sessions, cementing his starting position for Sunday’s races.

Following an encouraging warm-up on Sunday morning which saw him record the 13th fastest lap, Levy moved forward to finish race 1 in 13th from his position 20 starting spot but was later involved in a few battles taking place in front of him throughout race 2, ultimately failing to move forward as much as in the opening race and consequently finished back in 17th.

Currently sitting 14th in the overall point standings, Levy will be back in action on the weekend of September 8 and 9 for the next Australian Superbike Championship round at
Winton Motor Raceway.

Levy would like to thank the following 2018 season sponsors for their continued support: ATR, Greg & Nadene Seisun, Manshed Auctions, Adam Gorrell Automotive, Advanced Group, Held Australia, Race Center, YRD, Wales Truck & Bus Repairs, Central Air Conditioning, Diacore, A1 Rubber, Airoh Helmets, Cut & Core, and Beta Tools.
