Aruba.it Racing Ducati has revealed Alvaro Bautista will transition from MotoGP to the Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) in 2019 alongside Chaz Davies.

Bautista will debut in WorldSBK after completing his 16th full-time season in grand prix racing, where he’s seized 49 podiums including 16 wins across the categories, as well as conquering the 125cc class world title in 2006.

The Spaniard is currently piloting a Ducati Desmosedici GP17 under the Angel Nieto Team, where he sits 13th in the championship standings with 57 points to his credit.

In his fifth season on the factory team, Davies will remain with the squad after accumulating 68 podiums aboard Ducati machinery, taking 25 victories and finishing the season as runner-up twice. Qatar’s season-finale in October will signify the departure of Marco Melandri from Italian manufacturer.
