Major incident results in fractured femur, tibia and fibula at Silverstone.
Spaniard Tito Rabat has undergone surgery in the University Hospital of Coventry to repair serious leg injuries sustained during FP4 at Silverstone on Saturday.
The Reale Avintia Racing rider fractured his right femur, tibia and fibula in an incident involving Italian rookie Franco Morbidelli at Stowe after heavy showers had arrived.
Rabat had crashed and, despite reaching the safety of the trackside barriers, he was struck by Morbidelli’s Marc VDS Honda and flown to hospital immediately to undergo surgery.
As a result of the conditions and due to weather concerns, schedule revisions confirmed by organisers will see the MotoGP race will get underway at 8:30pm AEST, with Moto3 at 10:00pm and Moto2 at 11:30pm.
