Second on the grid marks Aussie's best qualifying result of Moto2 career.
Australia’s Remy Gardner delivered his best-ever Moto2 World Championship qualifying performance after securing second on the grid at Silverstone.
Tech3 Racing rider Gardner posted a 2m08.347s lap-time in qualifying at the British grand prix, making the most of mixed conditions on Saturday.
“It’s just incredible!” Gardner beamed. “I didn’t even know I was in the front row until half the lap was done, I looked at a screen and saw second.
“It’s a fantastic feeling, I definitely didn’t expect to be here some months ago with two broken legs. I made a great comeback and honestly, I’m pretty lost for words at the moment.”
After breaking both legs in a training incident in May to miss multiple races, Gardner currently sits 18th in the standings. He has DNF’d the past two races in succession, however his best finish of the season came at Termas de Rio Hondo.
