Sunday's cancellation an unacceptable situation according to the Italian.
MotoGP contender Andrea Dovizioso has reacted to yesterday’s cancellation of the British grand prix due to deteriorating weather conditions and an increasing amount of water sitting on the recently resurfaced Silverstone circuit.
The Italian has questioned drainage at the venue, labelling it as not good enough for a championship at the level of MotoGP, confirming he’ll raise his concerns to the Safety Commission at Misano’s 13th round.
“It was a real pity not to be able to do the race because we were very competitive, especially in the dry,” Dovizioso explained. “A weekend that was going well for us turned into an unacceptable situation, and so now it will be necessary to understand exactly what happened.
“We’ll talk about it in the Safety Commission at the next race, because to resurface a track and then find out it has more bumps than before, together with a problem of drainage, is just not good enough for a championship of this level.”
The Ducati Team rider piloted his Desmosedici GP18 to P2 in qualifying behind teammate Jorge Lorenzo, and lodged the fastest time in Friday’s practice. The MotoGP World Championship will now visit Misano in Italy on 9 September.
