Mitch Levy press release:
Following what has been a somewhat challenging campaign this year, Mitch Levy’s hard work and determination paid off during last weekend’s penultimate Australian Superbikes Championship round at Winton Motor Raceway, with the privateer Yamaha rider experiencing his most promising run yet in 2018.
With just three weeks in between his recent outing at Morgan Park Raceway in Queensland and last weekend’s round, Levy managed to capitalise on the short turnaround, building on his previous results to achieve a year-best outcome, placing just outside of the top 10.
The 23-year-old racer was quick to credit his team and sponsors for their contribution.
“While we couldn’t quite crack into the top 10, last weekend was a really positive run for us overall, which is in no small part due to all of the hard work and support put in by the whole
team and each of our valued sponsors,” commented Levy.
Progressively getting faster in each of his practice sessions on Friday, despite only placing 17th in his third session after a pair of 14th-fastest laps earlier in the day, it was clear that
Levy would be competitive from the outset.
Hitting each of his marks in Saturday’s opening qualifying session, Levy was pleased with his 13th-place result; however, a slightly over-zealous setup for his second qualifying session meant that while he still continued to make gains in terms of his lap times, he couldn’t quite keep up with his counterparts, slipping back to 15th.
Returning to the track on Sunday, the Dural, NSW-based rider was able to make amends in both of his races, working his way forward in race one to come home 12th, before going one better in his second and final race to place just outside of the top 10 in 11th.
“This year has been quite challenging for us at times, but last weekend’s round proves that we’re on the right track towards chasing consistently competitive results,” enthused Levy.
“Our results definitely give us some added confidence heading into the final round at Phillip Island next month and put us in good stead to finish the year on a positive note.”
Currently sitting 14th in the point standings, Levy will be back in action on October 12-14 for final 2018 Australian Superbike Championship round at the picturesque Phillip Island Circuit in Victoria.
Levy would like to thank the following 2018 season sponsors for their continued support: ATR, Greg & Nadene Seisun, Manshed Auctions, Adam Gorrell Automotive, Race Centre, Advanced Group, Held Australia, YRD, Wales Truck & Bus Repairs, Central Air Conditioning, Diacore, A1 Rubber, Airoh Helmets, Cut & Core, and Beta Tools.
