It’s been revealed Australian Anthony West has been provisionally suspended ahead of Portimao’s 10th stop of the Motul FIM Superbike World Championship after allegedly violating the FIM Anti-Doping Code.

In a statement, the FIM outlined the decision to provisionally suspend West was mandatory following the receipt of a report from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) accredited laboratory in Cologne indicating an Adverse Analytical Finding of a non-specified substance under Section 6 (stimulants) of the 2018 FIM Prohibited List.

It’s understood a urine sample collected from him at an in-competition test carried out by the FIM at the round of the 2018
FIM Supersport World Championship held in Misano, San Marino, on 8 July 2018.

West, who has been contesting the Supersport class in a self-operated EAB Antwest Racing team, has the right to request and attend the analysis of his B sample, however his provisional suspension stands in effect from 14 September 2018, barring him from any motorcycle competition until further notice.
