Ducati ace hopeful of repeating previous success at the French venue.
Chaz Davies says he feels physically better and stronger leading into this weekend’s 11th round of the Motul FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) in Magny Cours, France.
The Aruba.it Racing – Ducati rider was forced to battle through an ongoing shoulder injury at the previous round in Portugal, although with an additional two weeks of recovery, the British ace is adamant on repeating the success he’s experienced at the venue in the past.
“We’ve done well at Magny Cours in the past couple of years,” Davies commented. “We always had a good pace, winning three races out of four. I enjoy the track, it’s quite basic but also technical, with a lot of tight turns. It forces you to push more each lap, trying to turn quicker or brake deeper, and it presents different challenges compared with most other circuits on the calendar.
“Physically, I’m feeling a bit better, stronger and with less pain compared with Portimao. In the last few days the collarbone hasn’t given me any trouble in day-to-day activities, so I hope the weather stays consistent and we’ll try to get the most out of our time on track.”
Davies sits second in the championship standings, while this weekend marks the first opportunity for leader Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) to clinch a fourth successive crown.
