Australian finishes second in the final encounter of the 11th round.
A number of critical changes in set-up between races one and two at Assen’s 11th round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship (BSB) granted Josh Brookes the opportunity to challenge for a podium in the final encounter of the weekend.
The McAms Yamaha rider was ninth in the opening affair after a challenging outing, however he was able to fight amongst the front of the field in race two, ultimately winding up in second position.
“We struggled a bit in the opening race which just meant I couldn’t ride how I wanted,” Brooked admitted. “We made some changes ahead of race two and the bike instantly felt better and was a pleasure to ride.
“The bike felt like my own again and I really enjoyed that race – obviously second is not what we set out to do, but to be running at the front and back on the podium and fighting at the front.”
The Australian sits third in the Showdown, although the championship is out of the picture as series leader Leon Haslam (JG Speedlift Kawasaki) holds a 97-point advantage over the number 25.
