Team Suzuki ECSTAR Australia press release:
The final round of the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) is fast approaching and Team Suzuki ECSTAR Australia’s Josh Waters and Markus Chiodo are both looking forward to returning to the iconic Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit. The 2018 ASBK kicked off in February at the famous race track, well known for its spectacular racing, changing weather and unmatched vista, so it’s only fitting that the team returns to bring the championship to a close.
Markus Chiodo, the superbike rookie, is looking forward to the challenge and also to seeing a true benchmark of his 2018 progression: “Starting and ending the year at Phillip Island will be a good gauge on how far we have come this year. I’m really looking forward to getting back out on my favourite track. There’s no reason why we shouldn’t be up there with the best at a track which I know so well. The Suzuki Ride day last week was ok, but it was a shame the full team was not there to make any progress. Friday will be crucial to get comfortable and to setup the bike, which we missed out on doing.
Josh Waters is looking forward to climbing back aboard the GSX-R1000R: “I got some laps in at the Suzuki Track Day Experience at the start of the month and it’s left me keen to get on the bike at the final round. The team has worked hard all year and I’m a racer through and through. Those who know me, know that I try my best every time I get on the bike. I want to finish the season with the best possible result for myself, the team and all those that support us.”
Team Suzuki ECSTAR Australia owner, Dale Brede: “Phillip Island is an exciting, unpredictable race track and, to be honest, I can’t wait to get back there with the team. It has been a tough year, but I couldn’t be prouder of how everyone worked together to give Mark and Josh the best possible chance to succeed. The GSX-R1000R is a beautiful machine and we’re hoping to finish the season off in style.”
Team Suzuki ECSTAR Australia will be on track for qualifying on Saturday, 13/10/18, across two sessions, followed by two races on Sunday. Don’t forget you can watch the racing LIVE on SBS and Fox Sports, or watch the live stream via www.asbk.com.au
