Championship runner-up in sight for the Team Suzuki Ecstar rider.
In what has been a difficult campaign this year, 2017 champion Josh Waters is eager to finish the Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) this weekend at Phillip Island on a positive note as he targets vice champion honours.
The Team Suzuki Ecstar rider showed improved form at the previous round hosted by Winton in Victoria, where he wound up second, just two points shy of the overall victory.
“I got some laps in at the Suzuki Track Day Experience at the start of the month and it’s left me keen to get on the bike at the final round,” said Waters.
“The team has worked hard all year and I’m a racer through and through. Those who know me, know that I try my best every time I get on the bike. I want to finish the season with the best possible result for myself, the team and all those that support us.”
The talented Victorian sits 4.5 points behind third’s Troy Bayliss (DesmoSport Ducati), while he’s 11.5 points off current runner-up Wayne Maxwell (Yamaha Racing Team).
