Australian Ben Currie has completed his most successful season yet in the Supersport category of the 2018 Bennetts British Superbike Championship (BSB) after being awarded vice champion honours.

The Gearlink Kawasaki ace fell short of the title with an incredible seven victories and 18 podiums to his name, solidifying himself a championship contender all year long while also establishing himself as a competitive prospect in the future.

“It’s been a tough year but we gave it everything this year to try to win the championship but it just wasn’t to be,” Currie stated. “I can’t thank the Gearlink Kawasaki team enough for their dedication and hard work over the last few years and I’ve learnt so much which I hope to carry forwards in the future.

“The team is one of the best you can be in and Michael and the late lovely Norma put everything in to helping riders like myself move forwards and hopefully establish a career in racing.

“This weekend didn’t quite go to plan but it is good to finish second in the championship. Thank you to all the team and my personal sponsors that have made all this possible. I am looking forward to next year already.”

The 23-year-old is understood to still be finalising his plans for 2019 after two championship podiums in the British Supersport category over the past years.
