After lodging a stellar time in qualifying that granted him a front row start in P3, Jack Miller’s weekend took an unfortunate turn in the 24-lap encounter as he crashed out just over the halfway mark.

The Pramac Racing contender quickly took second at turn one before challenging inside the lead group, however unable to match the pace at the front, he dropped to eighth position prior to making a critical error, resulting in a fall that ruled him out of the race.

“It’s a shame because the weekend was really positive,” Miller commented. “The race pace wasn’t bad and I felt like I could close the gap to [Alex] Rins and [Andrea] Iannone, but after [Johann] Zarco overtook me, I made a mistake in braking and crashed. Now we go to Australia and I want to do well in my home GP.”

Miller sits 13th in the MotoGP World Championship rankings as the series heads to Phillip Island for the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, marking round 17 of 19.
