Yamaha Motor Australia is pleased to announce an exclusive partnership with motorcycle rider academy motoDNA.

motoDNA boss Mark McVeigh shares Yamaha Motor Australia’s vision of improving rider skill levels to make safer motorcyclists.

“At motoDNA we empower motorcyclists to be better riders by identifying skills gaps using sensor driven data,” explains McVeigh from his Sydney Motorsport Park HQ.

Many of motoDNA’s Yamahas – ranging from kids bikes through the MT range and onto the R-Family series – are fitted with a huge number of sensors says McVeigh – which enable his trainers to measure rider input and scientifically improve technique and confidence.

motoDNA currently runs rider training in NSW and QLD, and plans are in place to expand to other tracks across the nation with Yamaha. And not just for circuit riders either. “We run gymkhana type events for beginners to gain confidence before we let them out on the circuit,” says former GP 250 Racer and MotoGP Engineer McVeigh, who caters for newbies right up to expert level.

motoDNA’s coaches include many top level Aussie racers such as MotoGP Ace’s Peter Goddard and Mark Willis and they can help riders obtain their licence with roadcraft as well as circuit-based skills. A score card is issued to riders with a mark based on data supplied so that individual elements such as steering, braking etc can be focused on.

“The ability to introduce absolute beginners to motorcycling together with a unique data driven skills training system is what excites Yamaha Motor Australia about our partnership with motoDNA,” says Yamaha Motor Australia director Taka Kaieda. “Our goal is to introduce new riders to two wheels in the right way, by offering a safe environment that builds confidence. This is what motoDNA can provide,” he adds.

Yamaha Motor Australia is also looking forward to working with motoDNA on a number of customer and dealer events as well as media launches.
