Australian Broc Parkes was limited to just one stint in the 8 Hours of Slovakia last weekend as he managed elbow and shoulder injuries sustained in the lead up to the third round of the 2018/2019 FIM Endurance World Championship (EWC).

Setting the fastest lap in qualifying, it was elected Parkes would participate in just one stint as Yamaha Austria Racing Team (YART) members Marvin Fritz and Niccolo Canepa took on the remainder of the encounter, ultimately storming to victory for the second consecutive year.

“It is an awesome result,” said Parkes. “I actually crashed on Tuesday and hurt my shoulder and elbow but I was able to do one stint. I felt okay, but Mandy decided to be safe and Nicò and Marvin had good pace to continue.

“I’m happy because with my qualifying lap I was fastest, and with my injuries, I was happy just to ride the bike. It’s an awesome result for the team, a big thanks to them, and to my teammates for a great job.”

The YART squad is now back in title contention following the victory after suffering a points hit just three weeks earlier at Le Mans. The team now sits fourth in the series rankings.
