Jones and DesmoSport Ducati take aim at Winton

DesmoSport Ducati press release:

The Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) moves to Winton Motor Raceway this weekend where DesmoSport Ducati will continue their pursuit of the 2019 Superbike Championship as Mike Jones leads the way, carrying a single point lead into the fifth round.

Mike Jones, aboard the DesmoSport Ducati Pangiale FE, is at the top of game after a dominant round four and carries a lot of confidence into this weekend’s two races.

Mike Jones: “We had a few days testing at Winton a few weeks ago and although we still have some work to do to get a faster single lap time, I’m feeling really good about the weekend. Ben (Henry) and Paul (Free) continue to work hard behind the scenes to give me the best superbike in Australia, and although the competition is tough, I know I have what it takes to be there when it counts. It’s been two months since we raced at Morgan Park, and so we took the opportunity to race a state round at Phillip Island where Troy (Bayliss) and I battled it out which was a lot of fun to be honest. I love racing and I’m enjoying racing the Panigale FE, so I can’t wait to get on track Friday.”

DesmoSport Ducati Team Owner, Ben Henry: “It’s so good to be racing the championship again! It’s a long break in between rounds, but it’s given us a good chance to regroup and focus on a strong second half to the championship. We’ve had a chance to freshen up our race motors, spend some time on the Cube Performance Centre dyno and have a few races in the Victorian championship to get some racing in. Mike is riding really well, and although it’s a really competitive field, I’m sure that we’re in for another strong weekend.”

DesmoSport Ducati Team Owner, Troy Bayliss: “There’s going to be some intense racing this weekend, but Mike is doing a great job for us so I’m sure we’ll see more good results. Mike and I had a few races at Phillip Island recently as I keep working to get our V4R up to speed, and it was a lot of fun to get on track again. In fact, after racing Mike, we’ve decided that I’ll race our V4R in the support classes at MotoGP. We’ve got a DesmoSport corporate suite this year, and I’m really looking forward to racing and having our own private space with a small number of guests to make it a MotoGP weekend like no other. As a team though, our sights are firmly set on this weekend’s races and having a strong finish to the season as we head into the final three rounds.”
