Penrite Honda Racing ready for Phillip Island's penultimate ASBK round

Penrite Honda Racing press release:

Penrite Honda Racing enters the sixth round of the 2019 Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) between 4-6 October at Phillip Island, Victoria, with Troy Herfoss aiming to edge his way closer toward the top of the points-table.

Defending champion Herfoss is currently 21.5 points outside of the series lead going into the penultimate round and a victory on Sunday will go a long way in helping him to achieve back-to-back crowns aboard the ER Motorsport-prepared CBR1000RR SP.

Winton last month was a convincing round for Herfoss in claiming third overall with a pair of third-place finishes. With race-winning pace on his side, the 32-year-old has been eager to get on-track at the world-class 4.445-kilometre Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.

“We are definitely still in contention for the championship with two rounds to go and I’m excited to be heading back to Phillip Island,” commented Herfoss. “This round will be important for us, as they all are, and we’re at the business-end of the season now so scoring good points here is really important.”

Phillip Island is considered a favourite for second of the Penrite Honda Racing riders, Mark Chiodo, who continues to gain momentum in the second half of the season. After qualifying fifth last time out at Winton it ended up being a difficult race-day, however he’s determined to bounce back this weekend.

“Winton was going really good for me until the races, so I have confidence on my side and will be aiming to get strong results this weekend,” Chiodo said. “I always like Phillip Island because it’s a track that I’ve spent a lot of time at and I usually seem to do well on the faster, more flowing layouts. I’m looking forward to it!”

Friday practice held today saw Herfoss in P2 at 1m32.567s, while Chiodo was 11th overall on the time-sheets. Qualifying takes place on Saturday to determine the grid, followed by a pair of 12-lap races scheduled for Sunday.
