Alvaro Bautista has expressed earning race wins is still important ahead of the final two Motul FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) rounds, despite securing second in the standings with the title already wrapped up by Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team).

The Spaniard, who will depart Aruba.it Racing – Ducati in favour of joining a newly-introduced factory HRC squad in 2020, is looking to finish out the season strongly over the final rounds, with this weekend’s Argentina circuit being yet another all-new venue to the rookie.

“There are only two rounds left in the championship now, in Argentina and Qatar, so it’s very important to win some races before the end of the season,” Bautista explained. “Now the next track at San Juan Villicum will be completely new for me, and surely the other riders have a lot more experience than me because they raced here last year.

“I’ll try and learn the track as quickly as possible and be competitive throughout the weekend. Our target is to work well and try and get the maximum in the last two rounds.”

Bautista position at Aruba.it Racing – Ducati will be taken up by former MotoGP contender and current British Superbike Championship leader Scott Redding.
