New R-Experience a winner

Yamaha Motor Australia press release:

Yamaha Motor Australia’s inaugural R-experience event held at Sydney Motorsport Park on 14 October saw the pit garages of the famous grand prix circuit packed to the rafters with Yamaha R-series models.

The full range of Yamaha’s R line-up was represented, from the entry-level YZF-R15 to the MotoGP derived YZF-R1M.

The new R-experience initiative is a collaboration between Yamaha Motor Australia and its rider training school bLU cRU partner motoDNA. The event is an on-track celebration of Yamaha’s supersports range that starts with the entry-level YZF-R15 and steps up through the YZF-R3, YZF-R6 and YZF-R1.

The objective of the R-experience is for participants to improve their riding ability for increased on-road safety and on-track enjoyment. On-track sessions were provided for all levels of riding experience with participants given practical and classroom advanced rider training by Yamaha’s bLU cRU partner MotoDNA.

The Yamaha Racing Team (YRT) was also present, with professional Superbike riders Cru Halliday and Daniel Falzon, joined by recently crowned 2019 Supersport champion Tom Toparis. The trio headed out on track riding their YRT racing machines for a number of sessions, putting on a display of riding that left many in awe of their speed and bike control.

As part of the celebration of all things Yamaha R-series, leading members of Australia’s motorcycling media were invited along to sample and report on the soon-to-be-released 2020 YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M. Once the media duties had been attended to, R-experience entrants were given an exclusive opportunity to be one of the first in Australia to experience the updated 2020 1000cc superbikes, including the carbon-wrapped YZF-R1M.

“To have the famous Sydney Motorsport Park Grand Prix Circuit packed with Yamaha R-series bikes of all ages and capacities was an amazing sight,” says Matthew Ferry National Sales and Marketing Manager. “For many of the participants, the event was their first time on a circuit of any kind, and to watch them grow in confidence and ability throughout the day, thanks to the motoDNA Advanced Rider Training system, was a prime example of what our bLU cRU partnerships are all about,” he added. “Putting on great events like this for our customers not only helps attract new riders to the sport but also highlights the step-up you can make from the entry level R15 right up the full blown racer R1M,” ends Ferry.

For participants bitten by the racing bug, YMA supports a national racing series aligned with every Yamaha R-series model. The popular entry-level Oceania Junior Cup and Yamaha YZF-R3 Cup championships are exclusively for Yamaha YZF-R15 and YZF-R3 riders respectively, while Yamaha has secured multiple-championship winners in the all YMA-supported ASBK classes.

Plans are already underway for the next R-experience day, with on-track motoDNA training and other popular features of the inaugural event joined by additional elements. Details, dates and booking information will be provided soon.
