Australian Supersport champion Broc Pearson continues to make progress in transitioning to the premier class with the 727 Moto Team, stating ‘we’re ticking away things each time we ride out’ following last week’s Phillip Island test.

The 21-year-old showed grit and determination to capture the 600 title last season, also beginning his adaption to a Superbike in Queensland while the ASBK series was suspended due to covid and displaying promising pace at Morgan Park.

Pearson experienced his learning curves while adapting to YZF-R1 on the faster Phillip Island circuit during the official pre-season test, however, remains calculated in the approach to his rookie Superbike campaign.

“I had some experience towards the last year and I was actually going quite well on it – I didn’t think the step was going to be too bad,” Pearson explained. “I think the hard thing is coming to Phillip Island, it’s a pretty different track to get your head around and it’s very fast, so I think myself, that’s a big thing, the track is a major factor.

“Trying to work out our way around the bike, a lot of it is still to come from me and my riding, we are ticking away things each time we ride out, so if we keep going that way then we should be there soon enough.”

Pearson ended the two-day ASBK pre-season test at Phillip Island in 16th and, while dry track time was somewhat limited, he leaves feeling stronger after the second day: “Today’s been a bit more comfortable in terms of the way I have been riding the bike.

“Feeling a little more at home on it, yesterday I was sort of riding out of the pit, getting a little bit like… sort of like scared but excited, it was a quite a confusing feeling. Today I’m more settled in. The power is something that certainly makes you wake up and there’s probably nothing quite like it other than riding a Superbike around the Island.”
