WorldSBK champion Razgatlioglu quickest in Portimao test

Yamaha rider breaks lap record in warning shot.

Reigning WorldSBK champion Toprak Razgatlioglu stormed to the top of the Portimao test, setting a new lap record to conclude the two days at the Portuguese circuit fastest.

The Pata Yamaha with Brixx WorldSBK rider lodged a 1m39.616s using Pirelli’s new SCQ tyre, finishing 0.235s clear of Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) who also set his fastest time on the new SCQ.

Returning Aruba.it Racing – Ducati rider Alvaro Bautista completed 97 laps over the two days ending third fastest with a 1m40.055s, the Spaniard’s fastest time notably set on Pirelli’s SCX compound.

Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) was a further 0.280s adrift in fourth, with Pata Yamaha with Brixx WorldSBK’s Andrea Locatelli completing the top five with a 1m40.674s ahead of his second season in the premier class.

Top rookie was Phillip Oettel in P6, the Team GoEleven rider suffering a high-speed crash at turn one during the afternoon of day two, despite this, the German was also the top placed Independent rider courtesy of a 1m41.061s.

Michael Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati), Christophe Ponsson (Gil Motor Sport-Yamaha) and Luca Bernardi (Barni Spark Racing Team), were seventh, eighth and ninth respectively, and completed the official times of those WSBK riders in attendance.

Also present was Danilo Petrucci, testing a MotoAmerica spec Ducati V4R no official time was recorded for the Italian.

Aruba.it Racing WorldSSP Team’s Niccolo Bulega was the fastest of the World Supersport riders at Portimao posting a 1m43.876s, as Australian Oli Bayliss (Barni Spark Racing Team) suffered a fall on day one, fracturing his right ankle.

Recent
