Delivering on the potential shown in the build-up to the Mi-Bike Australian Superbike Championship, Honda-mounted Senna Agius was fastest in Supersport qualifying at Phillip Island.

The CEV Moto2-bound rider improved in the second session to a 1m35.307s, enough to take pole position in just his second national outing in the category.

Title favourite Tom Edwards (Yamaha) qualified in P2, however, suffered a fall at turn six on a lap that was looking to challenge Agius for pole, ultimately bringing out the red flag. Edwards is expected to race tomorrow.

Agius’ pole time wasn’t as quick as the record-breaking time Edwards posted in Friday practice at 1m34.909s, nor his own best lap of 1m35.264s set in more favourable conditions yesterday afternoon.

Tom Bramich (Yamaha) secured a front-row starting position for tomorrow’s two 10-lap Supersport races, qualifying third with a 1m36.341s set in the first session, ahead of Olly Simpson (Yamaha) and Ty Lynch (Yamaha), who completed the top five.

In Supersport 300 Henry Snell was victorious atop of pole-sitter Glenn Nelson, as Cameron Dunker completed the top three, with Nelson securing P1 in the opening R3 Cup bout from Snell in second and Jonathan Nahlous third.

The top three were covered by less than a tenth in the Oceania Junior Cup race one, Cameron Rende crossing the line in first ahead of Hudson Thompson and Harrison Watts.

Superbike Masters race one was won by Suzuki-mounted Murray Clark, from Scott Campbell and Scott Webster, with Clark again victorious in the second race from Campell and John Allen.
