Motorcycling Australia has announced the cancellation of the sixth round of the 2022 Mi-Bike Australian Superbike Championship at Symmons Plains Raceway, Tasmania.

The cancellation of the event scheduled for 20-23 October comes as a result of a newly occurring national motorsport calendar shake-up, including WorldSBK returning to Phillip Island in November.

“Additional complications include the recent late decision of Supercars to conduct the Adelaide 500 race in December, requiring the back end of the 2022 calendar to be revised,” a statement from Motorcycling Australian read.

“All of these recent changes occurring outside of ASBK or Motorcycling Australia’s control, unfortunate news for the championship and its riders and fans alike.”

No round was proposed as a replacement for Symmons Plains, effectively reducing the 2022 series to seven rounds for Superbike and six rounds for Supersport, Supersport 300, R3 Cup and the Oceania Junior Cup.

Round three of the 2022 ASBK Championship is set to take place at Wakefield Park Raceway on 22-24 April.
