Reigning Mi-Bike Australian Superbike (ASBK) champion Wayne Maxwell set the first-ever 1m04s lap on a motorcycle around Hidden Valley Raceway to storm pole position ahead of the three 16-lap races at round four.

The Boost Mobile with K-tech McMartin Racing rider was the only one to drop into the 64s bracket courtesy of a 1m04.962s, and secured P1 on the grid with a new lap record, eclipsing his pole time last year of a 1m05.181s

Mike Jones (Yamaha Racing Team) posted a 1m05.213s to line up second as Bryan Staring (DesmoSport Ducati) completed the front row, edging Maxima BMW’s Josh Waters by just 0.001s who notched a 1m05.331s in what was a great improvement and recovery for the number 21 following a crash yesterday in the third practice session.

Yamaha Racing Team’s Cru Halliday completed the top five with a 1m05.529s, ahead of Penrite Honda Racing’s Troy Herfoss and Arthur Sissis (Unitech Racing Yamaha).

Eighth was Daniel Falzon (Caterpillar JD Racing Yamaha) with a 1m05.792s as Lachlan Epis (BMW Alliance Racing) and Glenn Allerton (Maxima BMW) completed the top 10. Epis suffered an issue with his number one bike and was forced to use his spare, and Allerton’s best time of a 1m05.748s was cancelled for exceeding track limits.
