Barni Racing WorldSSP contender notches 11-13 results at round five.
A ‘decent’ round five of 2022 World Supersport (WorldSSP) at Donington saw Oli Bayliss charge his way forward to 11-13 finishes, despite managing a tyre pressure issue in race two.
It wasn’t the easiest of the weekends for the Australian, who missed FP2 following a crash on Friday which set him on the back foot entering Saturday’s qualifying.
Starting from P20, Bayliss progressively worked his way to 11th in race one, where he finished the bout less than two-tenths from the top 10. In race two, Bayliss’ front tyre pressure dropped as the laps progressed, limiting his pace in the second half.
“A decent weekend for us here at Donington,” said Bayliss. “We had a problem with the front tyre in race two and the drop in pressure prevented me from pushing, especially from mid-race on.
“Overall, it was a real learning experience, and we take away a lot of useful indications for the future. Big thanks to the team for all their help.”
Bayliss is 16th in the 2022 WorldSSP standings as the series moves to Most for round six on 29-31 July. He will compete in the Race of Champions this Saturday at Misano as part of this year’s World Ducati Week.
