R3 Cup round winner and Supersport 300 contender Liam Waters has been stripped of his points from the last three rounds of the 2022 Mi-Bike Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) for a breach of technical regulations.

It was announced following round five at Morgan Park that the breach occurred in section 4.26.4 of the SSP300 permitted modifications and appendix b: R3 Cup class and technical rules 7.3.1 as a breach of engine components.

With Waters being cross-entered in both classes, he was disqualified from each, effective from round two at Wakefield Park, where ASBK technical department records show the same sealed engine was used for all races in Supersport 300 and R3 Cup since.

The announcement effectively rules Waters out of title contention in both classes, with the promising Queenslander delivering a breakout season where he scored a maiden R3 Cup race win at Wakefield and his first overall victory in the class at Morgan Park. Before the disqualification, he was also third overall in Supersport 300 last weekend.
